Students of the educational program «3D Industrial Design and Engineering», implemented at the Department of Equipment Design in environmental facilities of Ƶ, presented their solutions, completely ready for mass production. From the first weeks of their studies, first-year students have been working on tasks close to real cases, creating design objects taking into account their knowledge of aesthetics, ergonomics and production technologies, and now they have come out to defend their best projects. Among them are educational children's toys, lamps, stationery cases, kitchen scales and accessories for smartphones.
In the first semester, future industrial designers designed interior lighting fixtures as part of the St. Petersburg Young Design competition. The works of students Stepan Grigorchuk and Alexander Polyakov were shortlisted in the Lumos nomination. In the second semester, students increased the pace of work – every month they created a new project that includes a full development cycle: research, sketch search, 3D modeling, visualization, design study and prototype printing on a 3D printer in the Laboratory of Virtual Fashion and Digital Design of Ƶ. At the end of the first year of study, students made a presentation of their best solutions.
Stepan Grigorchuk presented a wooden typewriter for preschool children. The student used simple shapes that help develop the imagination of the child, and a convenient handle makes it easy to roll the machine. In addition, Stepan has developed a case for stationery and art supplies, which easily fits into a pocket and, with the help of a special bracket, hooks onto the edge of clothing, which allows you to comfortably carry this small «designer kit».
Sofia Knyazeva presented her own version of a case for storing art and stationery, which has a separate compartment for small items such as a USB flash drive or an eraser. For convenience, using a carabiner, you can attach a pencil case to the bag. Sofia also created a laconic kitchen scale with special sides that prevent food from rolling off the platform. The triangular shape with three support points provides the scales with good stability, which distinguishes them from the usual rectangular scales with four support points.
Anna Mityusheva has developed a charging unit for a smartphone, tablet and any other devices. Rubber flaps cover the entire block and plug with their area, providing the device with protection from contact with the outside world. For more convenient operation, the device has a conical shape so that the additional rubber components bend themselves, freeing up space for the plug of the unit on the way to the outlet.
Alina Biba presented her solution for a reliable phone mount. It is easy to mount and allows you to conveniently position the device screen where necessary. The student also designed a wooden toy in the form of a lid that can be pulled by the tail so that it rolls after, and a compact atmospheric lamp in the form of a pebble. Its minimalistic design is suitable for any modern interior, and you can even use this lamp in the bathroom.
Maxim Dolgikh presented his webcam project, in the design of which the image of the cloud was used. The webcam looks light due to its shape and color scheme, so its design, fixed on the corner of the monitor, will not seem cumbersome. The student also created a ballpoint pen stylized as a brush. Its body can be made of wood or colored plastic, the tip is metal or plastic.
Alexander Polyakov has developed a whole line of folding interior lamps Mole, which are distinguished by an unusual transformation scheme and strict, but at the same time lightweight design. The work was included in the shortlist of the St. Petersburg Young Design competition in the Lumos (interior lighting) nomination.
Gayane Grigoryan presented the author's phone case with a round stand, which bends one side. The circle is able to rotate, so you can choose the desired angle of the phone. Gayane also designed a children's wooden toy in the form of a whale on wheels with a constructor on the back of blocks of different geometric shapes for the development of the child.
