In honor of the seventieth anniversary of the head of the department of nanostructured, fibrous and composite materials, professor Alexander Lysenko opened his photo exhibition "From the East to the West" in the lobby of the University on Bolshaya Morskaya street. It is dedicated to his travels in Japan, Korea, Singapore, London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Bali. In honor of the festivities dedicated to Alexander Lysenko, we will tell you about the author of the exhibition.
Alexander Lysenko was born April 16, 1953, in a family of scientists in Leningrad. His father was an engineer and worked in one of the city's leading design institutes, while his mother worked as an assistant professor at the Kirov Leningrad Institute of Textile and Light Industry (now St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design). When Alexander Alexandrovich was still a child, his mother often brought him to her workplace, where he first met the founder of the department of chemical fibers technology (today it is the department of nanostructured, fiber and composite materials named after A. I. Meos) Alexander Ivanovich Meos.

Having graduated from the school, Alexander entered our university at the faculty of chemistry and technology and in 1975 he defended his diploma with honors in English and remained to work at the department. Later by order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Education of the USSR he studied French at the Leningrad State University, after which he was sent to the Algerian Institute of Textile and Light Industry as a teacher. After his work in Algeria, he returned to the department where he continued his research in the field of synthesis and use of ion-exchange fibers. In 1983 Alexander Lysenko defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. He combines his scientific and pedagogical work with sports activities, organizes and trains athletes in sambo and judo sections at the university.

In the mid-eighties he changed the direction of his research, deciding to devote himself to the large-scale production of carbon fibers and composites based on them.
Under his leadership, the university concluded a number of interstate contracts with institutions of higher education in France: Lyon Textile and Chemical Institute (ITECH), Lyon Polytechnic, the Catholic University of Lyon, as well as the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST, Seoul). In France, Korea and Belarus he repeatedly gives lectures related to the technologies of production of fibers and composites on their basis, participates and gives reports at foreign international conferences: "Conference on Fundamentals of Adsorption" - in France, Italy, Japan, USA, "Internationales Techtextil-Symposium für technische Textilien" - in Germany, "Conference on Adsorption Science and Technology" - in Korea, "MELPRO membrane and electro membrane processes" - in Czech Republic. Alexander Alexandrovich undertook an internship in the company LIBA Maschinenfabrik GmbH (Germany) - the major developer and manufacturer of textile equipment and technology.

In 2007 Alexander Lysenko defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences. For development of scientific bases, creation and introduction into manufacture of highly effective technologies of receiving a complex of ecologically oriented competitive textile materials for protection of human habitat he received a rank of the Winner of the Russian Federation Government Award in the field of science and engineering. For achievements in the field of teaching and research - the title of professor.
Professor Lysenko receives 50 patents as co-authors and publishes 470 scientific papers, including 60 papers in internationally indexed databases (Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, etc.). In 1991, the scientist started to work as the teacher at the department of technology of chemical fibers and composite materials named after A. I. Meos and until now he is working at this department, which due to his initiative is called now the department of nanostructure, fibrous and composite materials named after A. I. Meos.

Many publications are devoted by Alexander Alexandrovich to the medical materials, sorbents, problems of utilization of polymer and composite wastes, problems of nanostructural modifications of polymers. Currently under his leadership 6 dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences related to thermal protection, tribology, development of bioactive materials, increase in thermal and fire resistance of fibers are carried out.
The main developments carried out within the scientific and technical program of the Union State "Development of innovative technologies and equipment for the production of competitive composite materials, matrices and reinforcing elements in 2012-2016" implemented at the JSC "Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno" (Republic of Belarus).
However, the range of his interests is not limited to scientific research. Alexander Alexandrovich is fond of photo art, is the participant of numerous photo exhibitions, which took place in St. Petersburg Union of Designers and the St. Petersburg Union of Artists.
You can admire his work until April 23 in the lobby of the main building of SPbGUPTD on Bolshaya Morskaya, 18.
