Two poles of the Earth by Alexander Polozov's brush: an exhibition of the Honored Artist of Russia opened in the SUITD.

In the main building of the Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, the opening of the exhibition of the Honored Artist of Russia, Chairman of the Guild of Painters Alexander Polozov, dedicated to Arctic expeditions, in which the author himself was involved, took place on Bolshaya Morskaya, 18. All works are made from nature in extreme conditions of Arctic and Antarctic latitudes. The artist spoke about the specificity of working in a cold climate after the opening of the exhibition at his creative evening with the participation of famous St. Petersburg polar explorers.

"In my works, I show the Arctic and Antarctica through people who are fearless, creative, working in an environment, which is so hostile to man, but so majestically beautiful. And for me, the north and south poles of the Earth also have a special romanticism and unique scenic possibilities," said Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Polozov.

Alexander Polozov's creative trips to the Baikal-Amur Mainline, Polar Stations and Antarctica provided rich material for writing diverse and multifaceted paintings. The artist works in the genre of portrait and landscape, historical and everyday genre. He continues the traditions of the Russian realistic school and, at the same time, his works give the worldview of our contemporaries and glorify love for the Motherland. The painter took part in more than 300 exhibitions, including personal ones in Russia and abroad. Many works are owned by various museums, foundations and private collections in 30 countries of the world, several paintings are stored in the stock of the Tretyakov Gallery. Alexander Polozov's canvases were included in the golden fund of Russian visual art.

The exhibition at SUITD presents portraits of polar explorers and landscapes depicting endless snow-covered expanses, eternal ice and people who are trying to conquer these unexplored wild lands.

The opening was attended by oceanologist, Head of the Russian Antarctic Expedition Valery Lukin, glaciologist, head of High-latitude air expeditions "North" Sergey Kessel, Chairman of the Board of the St. Petersburg Association for International Cooperation Margarita Mudrak, Chairman of the Board of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists Andrey Bazanov, sculptor, Honored Artist of Russia Boris Sergeev, General Director of the Museum-exhibition center "Petersburg Artist" Galina Stepanova. During the creative evening, the guests of the exhibition learned about life on the edge of the earth, about the fauna and natural phenomena of the Arctic and Antarctic.

The event was organized on the initiative of the head of educational work of SUITD Lyudmila Egorovna Vinogradova and the Department of Monumental Art.

The exhibition "Two Poles of Alexander Polozov" is open until February 24, 2023.
