SUITD presented their scientific developments at the Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi

From 1 to 3 December in the Park of science and art «Sirius» the II Congress of Young Scientists takes place there, which became a crucial event of 2022 within the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. Delegation of the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design presented the latest developments of the university, among which are electrically conductive materials, antibacterial and self-cleaning fabrics, at the exhibition achievements on priorities of scientific and technological development and initiatives within the Congress. Docent of the Department of Engineering Materials Science and Metrology of the SUITD, Candidate of Technical Sciences Olga Moskalyuk took part in the meeting of young scientists with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Olga Moskalyuk is a Director of the Center for Technology Transfer and Competencies Fashion Tech of the SUITD, which became one of the strategic projects of the university according to the program «Priority 2030». In her presentations on the meeting with Vladimir Putin she suggested considering the possibility of increasing investment support for high-tech projects of young scientists and students:

«With the students, we developed 10 startups in the field of "smart" textiles, one of which has already turned into a large factory. It happened due to investment support and competent support. And there are a lot of similar developments in universities. For example, within the Congress at the exhibition scientists from the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design presented antibacterial and self-cleaning fabrics. Our scientific team brought samples of heated products created from electrically conductive materials that provide comfort for work and life in extreme conditions of low temperatures of the Arctic and the Far North. Today there are some distortions of investment attention and support to the IT sector, while the sector of new materials and manufacturing technologies is in the shadows. That’s why I think that the development of high-tech startups is important. And I would like to put forward for consideration a proposal on scaling investment tools for scientists and researchers in addition to a developed grant system for bringing laboratory developments to the level of a real product, and startups to the level of real companies».

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the demand for high-tech startups and promised to submit this proposal to the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Science Foundation Andrey Fursenko for consideration.

the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design presented 26 young researchers at the Congress. The delegation was headed by a Professor of the Department of Chemical Technologies named after prof. A.A. Zakharov, Head of the Student Scientific Society of SUITD Anna Mikhailovskaya:

«Today the student scientific society of the university, our young scientists solve incredibly difficult tasks. They will have to provide the country with technologies, materials and solutions that will be able to bring the country to a new level of development. They are so talented, bright and ambitious. Many discoveries and achievements of our university were made due to their inquisitive mind».

In total the event will be attended by specialists from about 40 countries.
