Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design opened a new space called "Boiling Point - IndTech Design"

On November 20, 2020, the Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design opened a new space called "Boiling Point - IndTech Design". The platform designed to bring together students, teachers, business and government representatives, scientists and public figures to promote innovative digital design projects, educational programs, start-ups and digital technology testing. It is located in the center of Saint-Petersburg, at Sadovaya street, 54.

The opening ceremony was attended by special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on issues of digital and technological development, Director of program "Young professionals" ASI, general Director of ANO "NTI Platform" Dmitry Peskov, Vice-Governor of Saint-Petersburg Vladimir Knyaginin, President of the Council of rectors of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region, rector of Ƶ Alexey Demidov, and other honorary guests.

The Foundation for the development of digital design at Ƶ are the schools of graphic design, costume design, interior design, industrial design, synergetic meta-disciplinary cognitive design, and spatial environment design. "You have a very strong University, a very strong network cooperation, that is even more important in what we do," Dmitry Peskov addressed to the University — "I really want the whole country to know in a year that for digital design you need to go to the Boiling Point — IndTech Design in Saint-Petersburg».

"I hope that the Boiling Point will become the center of consolidation of the professional community. The University of Industrial Technology and Design has chosen digital design as the Boiling Point specialization, and it fits completely into the priorities of economic development. We will try to do everything that we can do from the city to support this initiative, " said Vladimir Knyaginin, vice-governor of Saint-Petersburg. "This is a significant and serious event for the University. When we chose digital design as the main agenda, we understood that out of seventeen and a half thousand students of Ƶ, five and a half thousand are designers of spatial environment, interior, costume, information design, industrial design. Of course, our ambitions extend so far, but they are also supported by real results and ideas, " said Alexey Demidov, rector of Ƶ, Chairman of the Council of rectors of universities in Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

At the plenary, which was held as a part of the launch site, it was announced the opening of the second location of IndTech Design with high-tech laboratories and modern equipment for digital specialists. The space is already being prepared for launch. It will be located next to the first one, at Voznesensky Prospekt, 44-46 and will be available for free to all teams in Saint-Petersburg who are aiming to launch their own technological design projects. "Our Boiling Point is designed as a superstructure on the same Foundation of the University of Industrial Technology and Design, its institutes and departments related to design. Here we will gather our accumulated experience, build technological partnerships and ambitious strong projects. This is why we are planning to launch a second platform with technological laboratories, "says Maxim Ermachkov, program Director of Boiling Point — IndTech Design.

One of the events was the news that the building at Millionnaya street, 27, which previously belonged to the Gorky house of scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was assigned to the Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. The new was commented by the rector of Ƶ Alexey Demidov: "I must say that there are many plans, including the heads of design institutes of the University. Part of the premises will be definitely devoted to industrial design and design in general."

The program of events was closed by a colorful dialogue in the framework of the Russian-Finnish collaboration of designers with a virtual fashion show, where real models were combined with their digital counterparts.
