International competition "Creative autumn-2020"
25 October

For the fifth year in a row, Saint-Petersburg is the venue for the large-scale international competition "Creative autumn-2020". The project aims to improve the system of adding Museum collections with works of art by contemporary artists and strengthen cooperation between countries in the field of professional fine arts. The winner of this year's Grand Prix was Sabit Nurimov, associate Professor of the Department of painting and drawing of Ƶ with the portrait "old Man".

The organizer of the annual international exhibition and competition of artists "Creative autumn-2020" is the Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. The project is supported by the Committee of science and higher education, the Saint-Petersburg Union of artists and the Saint-Petersburg Union of designers.

Artists, graphic artists, and architects who teach creative disciplines such as drawing, painting, and design in different countries could participate in the competition. Each year, in the run-up to the opening of the exhibition, participants shared their experience of using various teaching methods in the framework of a round table. This year, the coronavirus pandemic and the difficult epidemiological situation in Saint-Petersburg made their own adjustments, and participants sent their works to the exhibition without personal participation.

"It is very necessary, especially for teachers-artists. Today, the requirements of teaching imply participation in competitions, and when the competition is held here, in Saint-Petersburg, it is wonderful. Yes, this year it is almost impossible to hold a round table for teachers because of the pandemic. After all, it is very necessary to talk about the difficulties that arise in a particular University. But we are ready to cope with it," says Professor Mikhail Lavrenko, a member of the competition jury and a member of the Union of artists of Russia.

The idea of creating a contest for teachers artists in 2016 was made by the Director of the Institute of costume design Ƶ, member of the Union of artists of Russia, Professor Peter Gamayunov: "Artists older than thirty-five years was virtually untapped in creative projects, it was the forgotten age. But for an artist, this is the heyday, this is the time when he becomes a master, and skill should not have age restrictions. I didn't think it was fair when all sorts of projects and competitions have restrictions of up to 35 years."

Every year the contest is becoming more popular and authoritative. This year's participants were teachers from Kazakhstan, Finland, Russia and China. There were so many applicants that the organizers had to limit the size of the works so that as many artists as possible could exhibit their works.

Chairman of the Creative autumn 2020 jury, honored artist of Russia, candidate of art history, member of the Union of artists of Russia, Professor Evgeny Zubov: "We highly appreciate the contribution of Professor of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design Pyotr Gamayunov to the organization of the exhibition and to teaching, we know him as a talented artist-painter, an excellent organizer and teacher. The jury considered that it is necessary to nominate Pyotr Gamayunov for the title of honored artist of Russia, it will be fair."
