The program of the anniversary forum was diverse and carefully thought out, offering participants many formats for development and exchange of opinions. Traditional elements-the scientific and practical conference, international exhibition-competitions, master classes, and excursions to leading creative studios of St. Petersburg-were expanded and deepened, reflecting the growing scale and influence of this important event.

Within the framework of the anniversary forum, the X International Scientific and Practical Conference «Graphic Design: Traditions and Innovations» was brilliantly held. Having reached the ten-year milestone, the event clearly demonstrated the strength of the scientific traditions laid down by the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. The conference once again justified its high status-it remains a key platform where leading specialists and researchers gather to exchange innovative ideas and have deep discussions about the prospects for the development of artistic practices.

The key focus of the conference was on urgent problems of graphic design, understanding the dialectics of traditions and innovations in design, as well as issues of transformation of professional education in conditions of total digitalization. The work of the event opened with two key sections representing different segments of design discourse.

The first section, titled «Theory and Practice in Modern Trends of Graphic Design," was held under the leadership of Ƶ Professor v. V. Laptev. 15 speakers created a multifaceted picture of modern visual culture. During the discussions, the most diverse topics were touched upon-from the analysis of modern trends in visual communication design and philosophical understanding of the aesthetics of black-and-white images in various art forms to highly specialized issues, such as the creation of digital fonts based on expressive calligraphy. Reports devoted to the development of conceptual photography, the phenomenon of simplified character design in Japanese branding, artistic techniques of architectural fantasy, and complex issues of form generation in display typography aroused particular interest. These speeches clearly demonstrated that the fundamental foundations of design continue to be a space for bold experiments.

In parallel, the section «Design in the Digital Environment: Current Issues of Theory and Practice» worked, which was traditionally moderated by Professor N. I. Dvorko. 17 researchers and practitioners gathered on this platform to discuss the most «acute» digital present and outline the contours of the future. The audience’s attention was attracted by reports investigating artistic and project requirements for multimedia products and the phenomenon of interactive music video as a significant phenomenon of modern digital culture. Topics related to inclusive design for neurodivergent users, as well as the ethical and practical role of artificial intelligence in UI/UX design, where the indispensability of human empathy was especially clearly manifested, acquired particular relevance. The speakers also immersed the listeners in the world of immersive narratives in web design and demonstrated how traditional folklore finds new life in digital storytelling formats.

Based on the results of the conference, the publication of a collection of scientific articles is planned, which will be placed in the RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index). This gives the presented studies an official scientific status and ensures them a long academic life.

The event proved that modern graphic design has long gone beyond the scope of just an aesthetic discipline. Today it is a complex, interdisciplinary tool for engaging the audience, creating new meanings, and transforming society, in which a deep theoretical base becomes a reliable foundation for the boldest digital innovations.

This year, the forum again opened its doors at iconic points of St. Petersburg, offering participants a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes of the industry and meet with market leaders. The program allowed not only observing but also feeling live how modern design is born, as well as understanding what competencies are especially in demand in the profession today.

Key points of the route were the advanced platforms of the city. In the Laboratory of Virtual Fashion and Digital Design of Ƶ, guests immersed themselves in the world of immersive technologies, seeing how digital innovations transform traditional approaches to design.

No less impressive was the visit to the computer animation studio «Peterburg," where participants were able to touch the intricacies of creating animation content.

The excursion to the animation film studio «Melnitsa» became a real discovery: participants saw how characters and stories loved by viewers are born. Guests were shown the key stages of creating cartoons-from the first sketches to the final animation-and were also given the opportunity to communicate with industry professionals and learn about their daily work.

A completely different dimension of perception was opened by the multimedia program at the «Planetarium 1» museum: here technologies and design merged into a single spectacular experience, demonstrating the limitless possibilities of the synthesis of science and art.

The forum did not just show the diversity of professional opportunities-it gave participants tools for understanding their own path in the rapidly changing world of visual communications.

On December 5, a series of inspiring master classes took place, becoming a real platform for professional growth and exchange of invaluable experience. Participants immersed themselves in intensive practice, where through the analysis of real cases they received not just theoretical knowledge, but working tools and proven methods capable of immediately finding application in professional activities.

The program was opened by Anton Arkadyevich Glikin, architect, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, who conducted a deep excursion into the subtleties of architectural form generation, demonstrating amazing parallels between real design and animation space. His master class allowed looking at familiar architectural forms through the prism of animation art, revealing unexpected facets of the creative process.

No less exciting was the speech by Daria Yuryevna James-Levy-a member of the Union of Artists and a senior lecturer at the Department of Graphic Design in Art Space of the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ. She shared her unique experience of creating an author’s book as an original product of graphic design, revealing the secrets of turning textual content into visual storytelling.

Anna Alexandrovna Fokina, a specialist in the field of 3D graphics for computer games and 3D printing, presented to the audience the revolutionary possibilities of neural networks as a creative tool. Participants were able to see how artificial intelligence becomes a full-fledged co-author of the artist, expanding the boundaries of the possible in digital art.

Roman Maksimovich Ivanov, an experienced game designer, immersed listeners in the world of artistic features of creating an interactive game environment. He analyzed in detail the principles of building virtual spaces, where each element not only decorates the scene but also works to immerse the player in the atmosphere of the game.

Anna Denisovna Falina, an interface designer, revealed the intricacies of developing a game interface-an invisible but most important element of the gaming experience. Participants learned how to create an intuitively understandable and aesthetically verified system of player interaction with the virtual world.

The series of master classes was completed by Mikhail Igorevich Balaban, a sound designer. He demonstrated how audio elements and sound design form emotional perception, create an atmosphere, and enhance player engagement, turning game projects into a holistic work of art.

These master classes became a true creative dialogue between recognized professionals and interested listeners, opening new horizons for development in the field of design and multimedia.

In December, the main building of Ƶ turned into a real gallery of modern art-the International Exhibition of Teachers and Designers «Dialogue 13: Traditions and Innovation in Modern Art» unfolded here. Teachers, artists, and designers from leading creative universities of different countries united in a single exhibition space.

The exposition demonstrates a striking variety of artistic directions. Viewers can get acquainted with paintings and graphic sheets, see original sculptures and conceptual art objects, and evaluate the expressiveness of photographic works. A special place in the exposition is occupied by projects in the field of graphic design, printing, and computer graphics, emphasizing the inseparable connection between traditions and modern digital technologies.

An important part of the project was the publication of the exhibition catalog, which included 78 works-this clearly reflects the breadth of the creative range of participants and the richness of the presented ideas. Each author receives a personal copy of the catalog and a diploma confirming their contribution to this significant cultural event.

Along with other significant events within the framework of the forum, the International Exhibition-Contest of Design Projects, Course and Diploma Works «Master and Student» successfully completed its work. The solemn opening of the forum was marked by the award ceremony for the winners of this prestigious competition.

The jury, which included recognized industry experts, carefully analyzed the submitted works and highlighted the most vivid projects. The winning works became a genuine embodiment of professional mastery: they demonstrated not only flawless command of technical techniques but also a fresh, innovative look at solving design problems.

The V International Graphic Design Forum acted as a powerful communication platform, allowing professionals from various countries and artistic directions to exchange valuable experience and innovative ideas!
