24 October

Alina Zabolotskaya, a graduate of the St. Petersburg Engineering School (College), took part in the St. Petersburg Fashion Week with two collections at once.

On the catwalk of the main fashion event in the Northern capital, Alina showed the KOI collection, which was inspired by the rich culture of East Asia and koi carp, as well as a collection called The Blue Bird, based on the work of Russian artists of the 19th century.

Both collections of Alina Zabolotskaya, a student of Ƶ, presented at the St. Petersburg Fashion Week, have already won Russian and international design competitions.

The KOI collection won first place in the Russian competition of young fashion designers and fashion designers "Breath of Spring", as well as in national and international competitions organized by the FMVDK "Talents of Russia".

"One of the main sources of inspiration for the collection was nature with its unique colors and shapes, namely koi carp, which symbolize luck and well-being. My collection reflects the lightness and elegance of these fish. Another source of inspiration was the rich culture of East Asia. China's culture is one of the most ancient and distinctive in the world. She had a great influence on the development of the cultures of numerous neighboring peoples, for example, Mongolia, Korea and Japan. Therefore, the main focus of the collection was on Chinese traditional clothing from different historical periods. But in makeup and hairstyles, I drew inspiration from the traditions of Japanese geisha. My models have cheeks and eyes highlighted with orange and red hues that emphasize sophistication and remind me of koi carp images."

The collection of the student of Ƶ "Blue Bird" won first place in the international creative festivals "Cup of Russia for Artistic Creativity" and "Cup of St. Petersburg", as well as in national and international competitions from the FMVDK "Talents of Russia".

Russian Russian artists of the 19th century, who depicted representatives of the Russian merchant class, inspired the collection.

"The main color of the collection is blue. It is the color of heaven, truth, humility, chastity, piety, and baptism. He expressed the idea of self-sacrifice and meekness. I have woven images of animals and plants into the ornaments. One of the main amulet symbols was considered to be a magnificent tree with birds, it was associated with the tree of life. The forces of nature had their own images: Mother Earth was embroidered in the form of a female figure with elemental birds in her hands. Amulet signs were embroidered as a spell in strictly defined places. They decorated the hem of the skirt, belt, collar, sleeves, chest. Men and women wore traditional clothes with belts: it was considered as indecent to walk without them as without a headdress."
