The Beinopen Institute for the Development of the Fashion Industry, together with the omnichannel retailer Sportmaster, with the support of the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, are launching a competition aimed at a new generation of fashion specialists: designers, technologists, and clothing designers. The participants' task is to develop a drop of clothing for the Sportmaster brand. Finalists will receive a cash grant, media coverage of their projects, and the opportunity to integrate into the industry through an internship or employment at a Sportsmaster.
The competition consists of three stages: a qualifying stage, a training module, preparation and presentation of theses. The qualifying stage will last until August 31, 2025. Participants will need to provide a portfolio with a story about themselves. The jury will select the participants who will go to the second stage — the training module.
The training program will be held from 01 to 10 September 2025. As part of it, the contestants will receive lectures and master classes from industry experts. The contest itself will be held from September 11 to November 01. Under the supervision of Beinopen experts, designers will develop sketches of a sports drop, under the supervision of the Grasser bureau, designers will work on patterns, and technologists will work on the technological map of the collection. The selection of projects and voting will take place on the fashion.deziiign platform.
Participants will receive feedback on their work from an experienced jury team: the Grasser Design Bureau, the Beinopen team and the Sportmaster. At the end of the stage, participants will receive a presentation of their graduation projects.
On November 07, the jury will announce the results of the competition and mark the finalists.
Alexey Bazhenov, Founder of the Beinopen Institute:
"Today, fashion requires not only creativity, but also a deep understanding of technology and engineering. We are launching this competition so that young professionals get a chance to prove themselves in the real conditions of the industry, to go from the idea to the final product — together with mentoring support and access to production facilities. We believe that such initiatives are shaping a new generation of creative professionals capable of working at the intersection of fashion, technology and business."
Valentina Vatrak, Director of Organizational Development and Personnel Management at Sportmaster:
"It is important for us to find and develop talents who understand what functional, stylish and technological clothing for sports and an active lifestyle should look like. In cooperation with Beinopen, we want to open the doors to young professionals in the industry and give them the opportunity to offer fresh ideas for our brand's product line. We are confident that the best of them will be embodied in the new collections of the Sportsmaster."
