The future of Russian printing industry was discussed by Ƶ experts at the Print Park forum
28 May

As part of the X anniversary Print Park Forum, a round table "Does the industry need human resources?" was held, bringing together representatives of education, the printing business and students.

One of the key roles in the discussion was played by experts from the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies Ƶ, the only educational institution in the North—West of the country in the field of training specialists for the media industry and publishing, covering the entire range of professions in demand in the book industry.: from editors and publishers to printers and graphic designers/

Natalia Lezunova, Director of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies at Ƶ, opened the discussion. She stressed that the personnel shortage is a common challenge that requires systematic interaction between universities and enterprises. The Department of Printing Production Technology under her jurisdiction prepared an analytical presentation based on a detailed study of the calendar cycle of the university and printing houses, on real-life cases of interaction with production, experience in cooperation with city enterprises and a sociological study of students' career expectations. The training was attended by teachers of the department Maria Fedder, Kirill Chizhevsky, Anastasia Orlova, Victoria Jivan.

The round table presented the results of an analysis of cooperation with printing houses, including the possibilities of creating a personnel reserve, synchronizing training and production cycles. As well as successful student projects, for example, interactive business guides and simulators for developing skills at the request of the industry.

Flexible conditions for students to complete internships, the involvement of companies in the formation of educational programs, and "targeted" requests for specific graduate competencies are new approaches to targeted contracts. The results of a study of students' career orientations and methods of building a dialogue with young professionals are proposed.

For the first time, Ekaterina Kovalenko, Artyom Gazaryan and Yulia Kiselyova, students of the Department of Printing Production Technology at Ƶ, participated in the discussion of topical personnel issues. From the first year, in parallel with mastering the theoretical base, they immersed themselves in the specifics of printing production, which allowed them not only to develop professional competencies, but also to form an informed view of the global problems of the industry. The students shared their personal stories about expectations and difficulties on the way to the profession. The subsequent discussion revealed the business' request for such cases, which emphasized not only the relevance of the topics raised, but also the need for the systematic participation of young people in the strategic planning of personnel policy.

Denis Gutnik, a lecturer at Mozhaisk Polygraphic College and a specialist at the Prisma Printing House, aroused great interest. He focused on key issues: the shortage of specialists, the gap between theory and practice, and the need to create joint training centers at enterprises.

"The presentation of Moscow Polytechnic University highlighted global trends: the transition from diplomas to confirmed qualifications, the introduction of project activities and business games to evaluate soft skills. The panelists agreed that the future of the industry depends on the synergy of education and business. Key solutions include collaborative programs, flexible educational models, and consideration of youth needs. It is not necessary to wait for ideal conditions, but to create them together, since the future of printing is in the hands of those who are ready to learn, teach and cooperate," Natalia Lezunova emphasized.

The leading enterprises of the industry took part in the discussion: large printing houses: OOO Polygraphoformlenie-Flexo (Saint Petersburg), OOO Tipografiya Industriya Tsvetov (Saint Petersburg), RoSK (Saint Petersburg), Litas + (Saint Petersburg), Prisma (Mozhaysk), Promis JSC (Nizhny Novgorod), Sochi (Sochi); educational institutions of higher and secondary professional education: Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ, Moscow Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg Academy of Urban Environment Management, Urban Planning and Printing, Mozhaisk Polygraphic College, Rybinsk Polygraphic College and Optical and Mechanical Lyceum.
