On 24 April 2025 the Museum of Modern Art ARTMUZA hosted the opening ceremony of the art and educational project ‘Heroes of Sport - Heroes of Victory!’ timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition united students and teachers of the Institute of Graphic Design, as well as professional artists and students of creative universities.

The Institute of Graphic Design Ƶ presented the main part of the exposition, showing the viewer a large-scale series of almost fifty graphic works made in various techniques, including colour and black-and-white linocuts, painting and the use of soft materials.

The exhibition ‘Heroes of Sport - Heroes of Victory’ is a tribute to the Leningrad sportsmen who defended their homeland in the fire of frontline battles. Each work brings to life a fresh, not indifferent view of young artists on the heroic pages of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Here history finds its voice through generations: the exposition becomes a place where the pain of loss and the jubilation of victory, tragedy and inspiration are intertwined in a single narrative, creating a living link between the past and the present.

The project was creatively supervised by the teachers of the Department of Graphic Design in Art Space: M.R. Kuznetsova, Y.S. Tikhonova, A.Y. Koroleva, E.A. Starovit, K.B. Avramova, D.V. Poddubny and E.A. Vikulina.

The exhibition was opened by A.S. Basharova, curator of the Art-Muza gallery. Also, A.N. Komarov, chairman of the St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region Committee for Culture and Sports, sculptor and president of Art-Muza Alexander Spiridonov, as well as M.R. Kuznetsova, head of the Department of Graphic Design in Art Space, addressed the guests and authors of the works.

This meeting was not only a sign of respect for the work of talented artists, but also a gesture of gratitude to the guests of honour - representatives of public organisations and sponsors, who were presented with author's graphic sheets created by the students of the Institute of Graphic Design under the guidance of the teacher Avramova K.B..

The grand opening of the exhibition gathered a large number of guests and participants in the walls of the museum: the halls were filled with a lively response, attention and sincere approval of the public. Assessing the works of young artists, representatives of the Committee for Culture and Sport honoured them with commemorative diplomas, emphasising the importance of each participant's contribution to preserving the memory of the country's heroic deeds.

Today the exhibition ‘Heroes of Sport - Heroes of Victory’ invites all those who are not indifferent to touch the history, looking at the works born by the talent and inspiration of young authors. The exhibition will run from 23 April to 23 June 2025 at the Museum of Contemporary Art ARTMUZA at the address: St. Petersburg, 13th line V.O., 70. Entrance is free.

Eternal glory and grateful memory to the Leningrad sportsmen who defended besieged Leningrad and participated in battles on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945!
