The play "The Legend of Gilgamesh" is based on one of the greatest and oldest literary works of mankind, The Epic of Gilgamesh. Birkan Gergun wrote his own dramatization of the ancient epic. The production seeks answers to the questions of whether immortality exists, whether it is available to man, and what price one will have to pay for eternal life. This is a play about choice and humility, a hymn to friendship and justice.

The original costumes for "The Legend of Gilgamesh" were created by Elizaveta Piskunova, a graduate of Ƶ. In her work, the fashion designer used elements of felting from wool and weaving.

"It may sound strange, but the starting point for me was asymmetry and deconstruction in the spirit of Y2K – rethinking the fashion of the noughties in modern aesthetics. And then there's what inevitably pops into your head when you create something mythological: shamans and priests, assassins and warriors of ancient peoples. In addition, I was inspired by the couture collections, working with the form and texture of designers and brands such as Maison Margiela, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Thierry Mugler."

Elizabeth admits that the image of Utnapishtim, a man who was granted immortality by the gods, became the most difficult. He saved many lives from the flood, but he witnessed countless deaths himself. The fashion designer spent a long time choosing the material that would convey the essence of this character. As a result, the costume was woven from wooden beads.

And among the costumes that surprised the audience was a costume made of artificial hair.

"For me, this was the first experience of working with such an atypical material for clothing, it is technically very difficult to create such a costume. We also used many decorative techniques: felting from wool, dyeing, 3D printing, weaving - every detail is important."

During the preparation for the performance, the graduate of Ƶ not only designed costumes, but also supervised the processes.: how props create accessories, shoe makers sew shoes, postigers work on wigs, how make-up is tested, costumes are sewn and tried on.
