Students of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design became winners and prize-winners in several competencies of the regional stage of the Championship on professional skills among people with disabilities and disabilities "Abilimpics". Sewing women's trousers, creating an animated character, painting on silk, conducting chemical experiments — such tasks were faced by the students of St. Petersburg State Technical University. In total, they brought nine medals to their native university, four of them gold.

The first place in the competence of "Beadwork" was taken by Alexey Yarygin, a student of the Institute of Applied Arts of St. Petersburg State University of Fine Arts, who was preparing for the Championship under the guidance of Svetlana Zhukova, Associate professor of the Department of Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials and Jewelry. As a task, Alexey had to pull the threads of the base of the bracelet, then weave the main part of it and, finally, assemble the product in the technique of machine weaving.
"I easily coped with the first module, each thread was evenly stretched. In the second module, I ran into difficulties. It is important to observe the golden mean so that the main working thread is not so stretched, otherwise the bracelet will lose its flexibility and become rigid. But the most difficult part was the final part of the work, when time is already running out, patience also becomes less, but we must remain attentive. All nodes must be properly tied without strong tension so that the bracelet does not deform. They also need to be carefully hidden in the ends of the bracelet, avoiding breaking the threads. In addition, it was important to take safety precautions into account during work, because points were deducted for violations. As a result, I managed to make a neat and beautiful bracelet," says Alexey.

In the competence of "Tailor", the first place was taken by Yulia Mamina, a student of the Engineering School of Clothing (college) of Ƶ, who was trained by Vera Koroleva, a teacher at the University College. The participants of the competence were faced with the task of sewing women's denim trousers with a fitted belt and patches according to the finished cut, without making mistakes. Julia managed to cope with the task the best of all.

Another victory for the native university was brought by Alina Kradenova, a student at the Institute of Graphic Design of St. Petersburg State University of Design, mentored by Yuri Kirgizov, associate professor of the Department of Graphic Design in the Art Space. Alina performed in the competence of "Character Design/Animation". The student needed to create her own character, which would reflect the theme of family traditions.
"My character is inspired by the image of my grandmother, whom I depicted in a simplified and stylized Buryat costume. I made a sticker for the Telegram messenger from it and animated it for a 3-4 second timing. First, I drew sketches of the future character in Photoshop, where I stylized the character and worked on conveying his character through emotions and movements. Next, I chose the most appropriate sketch and worked it out in more detail, adding the main color, shadows and textures. Then I outlined the already sketched character in a vector program. I animated the layered vector character in Adobe Animate. We also had to prepare an abstract of the project, which included the name of the character, a logline and an explanation of the concept of our work. As a result, I presented the jury with three character sketches, a sticker for Telegram, a cyclic animation of the character and a brief summary of the project," Alina shares.

The victory in the competence "Silk Painting" was awarded to Olesya Stepanova, a student of the Institute of Applied Arts of St. Petersburg State University of Fine Arts, who was preparing for the Championship together with her mentor, associate professor of the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts and Folk Crafts Inna Gubina.
Olesya was working on a silk handkerchief. First, she had to create a sketch in the size of the frame, stretch the fabric over it, make the outline of the intended drawing and perform the work in color in such a way that it was built on contrast. In addition to silk and a wooden frame, the student used tracing paper, pencil, marker, batik paints, a reserve that prevents the mixing of acrylic paints when painting silk fabrics, and brushes in her work.

In the competence of Laboratory and Chemical Analysis, the University of Industrial Technologies and Design at Abilimpix was presented by Zurab Kupreishvili, a student of the Institute of Applied Chemistry and Ecology of St. Petersburg State University of Applied Sciences, who was trained by Svetlana Lysova, Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry. The student took the second place in the Championship. As a task, he had to calibrate the measuring utensils so that the errors in the chemical analysis were minimal. Then Zurab was engaged in the preparation and standardization of solutions, determined the ash in sugar using the conductometric method, and also determined the acidity of the prepared solution using the potentiometric method.

The second place in the competence of "Poster Design" was awarded to Anna Karmanova, a student of the College of Technology, Modeling and Management of Ƶ, who was preparing to participate in the Championship under the guidance of Natalia Natus, a teacher at the University College. The student was faced with the task of creating a poster dedicated to the Year of the Family.
"We had to create a poster design by posting information about the competition, which is timed to coincide with the Year of the Family. It was necessary to take into account what tasks such a poster carries, for which audience it is intended, and to build the composition correctly. Therefore, I designed a poster of calm colors with several bright elements and added a collage to it, which depicts happy parents with children, children's drawings and paints," says Anna.
Anastasia Vasilchenko, another student of the College of Technology, Modeling and Management of Ƶ, also brought the silver medal of the Abilimpics championship to her native university. She performed in the competence of "Fine Arts" and was preparing to participate under the mentorship of teacher Elmira Hisamutdinova. The student created a font composition in A3 format in a limited color scheme, according to the assignment. In her work, the student used markers and liners, black, gray and red colors.
Nikita Redkin, a student at the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ, took the third place in the competence of "Graphic Design". He was prepared for the Championship by Anna Astayeva, a senior lecturer at the Advertising Design Department. The student had to develop a design project that included a logo, an avatar, a banner, an invitation card and a badge for an open-air family festival.
"I presented a logo in the shape of a circle, in which family members were illustrated using geometric shapes and avatars. Then a pattern was created from this logo, which was later applied to the layouts of future media: a badge, an invitation card, a banner," says Nikita.

Students of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design Alexey Yarygin, Alina Kradenova and Yulia Mamina joined the St. Petersburg national team, which will represent the Northern Capital at the national stage of the Abilimpix championship.
