Printing technologies and the meaning of the word in the era of the media text were discussed at the conference in St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design

The XXIV All-Russian Scientific Conference "Print and Word in the Era of Media Text: St. Petersburg Readings-2024" has finished its work at the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.

The conference was attended by 86 representatives of modern humanitarian science from 15 cities of Russia, far and near abroad: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Kostroma, Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg, Petrozavodsk, Samara, Cherepovets, Yaroslavl, as well as Yerevan (Armenia), Minsk (Belarus), Warsaw (Poland), Jerusalem (Israel), Brno (Czech Republic).

At the plenary session, Professor Maria Cherniak of Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University Maria Cherniak spoke on "The Pushkin Myth in Modern Literature. Natalia Kozlovskaya, a researcher of the Institute of Linguistic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, devoted her speech to the technique of composing a media text in modern operative neography, i.e. the process of disruption of written speech, which manifests itself in changes in the elements of writing.

In the conference reports, modern publishing, print and word are presented in various aspects, which is reflected in the topics of the sections: "Actual Issues of Publishing Practice", "Media Technologies in Publishing and Printing", "Actual Problems of Literary Studies", "Issues of Modern Linguistics", "Intercultural Communications", "Culture and Media Sphere".

The conference presented the results of the research of the repertoire of export-oriented Chinese publishing houses, the structure of China's export and import of physical books and copyrights, the analysis of artificial intelligence technologies in analyzing the market of printed products, the typological diversity of fanzines, as well as the experience of the Russian National Library in the field of electronic facsimile editions of manuscript monuments.

One of the conference reports was devoted to the ethnography of the indigenous peoples of the Leningrad Region in the editions of the famous archeologist and ethnographer O.I. Konkova. Her book is devoted to the history and culture of the Vodi, one of the smallest indigenous peoples of Russia. The book brings together for the first time the most diverse data on the origin and archaeological culture of this unique people, its unusual costumes and ancient musical instruments, magical rites and festivals, language and folklore, history and modernity.

"The diversity of topics of the conference reports and the large number of participants in its seven sections speaks of the enduring relevance, significance of publishing. In the changing conditions of the era of media text, the book industry is developing, organically combining the experience gained over the centuries and new views on the possibilities and prospects of book publishing," commented Natalia Lezunova, Director of the Graduate School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ.
