The whole composite world is under one roof. Ƶ scientists presented the university at the Composite Expo exhibition
12 April

The staff and students of the Department of Nanostructured, Fibrous and Composite Materials named after A.I. Meos of the St. Petersburg University of Industrial Technology and Design presented the university at the 16th international specialized exhibition "Composite Expo".

This year, at the stand of the long—term information partner of the exhibition, the Composite World magazine, the developments of the Department of Nanostructured, Fibrous and Composite Materials named after A.I. Meos of Ƶ were presented, among which were samples of fire—resistant special-purpose fibers, heat-shielding carbon materials, gas diffusion layers for hydrogen energy fuel cells, three-layer sandwich structures with synthetic composite filler, materials for washed-out rigs, which aroused keen interest among visitors.

The staff of the department take part in the exhibition annually, also acting as co-organizers of the business program events. Olga Gladunova, an assistant at the department, held the fifth scientific and practical conference "Practical aspects of the use of composite materials in various industries", within which speakers from sixteen companies of the industry presented their novelties for the composite industry: LLC "Composite Products", ENPC "Epital", LLC "Scientific Research Institute of Space and Aviation Materials", JSC "NPP "ALTIK", the company "NIAGARA", the company "SIBUR". This year, students of the department Alina Yarkevich, Olga Kudrinskaya, Yulia Vilacheva and Stanislav Talvinsky also got acquainted with the exposition of the exhibition.

"To see firsthand the developments of advanced companies, to communicate with specialists, and most importantly to understand where and how we can apply the knowledge gained during training is invaluable for us as future technologists," the guys noted.

In 2025, the Department of Nanostructured, Fibrous and Composite Materials named after A.I. Meos Ƶ plans to participate in the event again with a more expanded range of presented developments and the composition of the delegation.

"Participation in the exhibition is a great way to show scientific developments to companies directly interested in them, find ideas and partners for the implementation of new projects, and for students it is a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of composites, deepen their knowledge, get acquainted with the latest materials and technologies, exchange experience with leading technologists, that is, get everything that It will help them take their place in the composite industry," said Natalia Lukicheva, senior lecturer at the department.

The Composite Expo exhibition is one of the main events of the composite industry in Russia, annually bringing together leading manufacturers of raw materials, products, software and hardware developers, scientific, research organizations and educational institutions. In 2024, 180 key companies from Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Turkey, China, the UAE and Iran took part in the exhibition.
