The city competition of clothes made of non-standard materials "Breaking traditions" was held at the Engineering School of Clothing (college) of Ƶ. On the podium of the University College, models presented original images from newspapers, liquid glass, fishing line, medical plaster, forest moss, parchment paper and other unexpected materials from young designers of St. Petersburg. In total, more than 40 works were presented to the jury, including both single models and entire collections.
The contestants competed for victory in two categories: "Single model" and "Author's collection". This year, among the most unusual materials that designers have chosen to embody their ideas: paint, laminate substrate, newspapers, polyethylene, wood, forest moss, medical gypsum, polymer clay, liquid glass, fishing line, metallized paper, vegetable mesh, parchment paper, computer disks, New Year's rain, food packaging, disposable tableware, straws, soda cans, window insulation and even sports equipment.
The winner in the nomination "Single model" was Ekaterina Gavrilenko (Engineering School of clothing Ƶ) with the model "Closely together", the second place was taken by Anna Smirnova (Engineering School of Clothing Ƶ) with the model "Manuscripts do not burn", the third place was awarded to Victoria Ergina (Engineering School of Clothing Ƶ) with the model "Heart of a mermaid".
Special diplomas with a special mark of the jury members in the nomination were awarded to students of the Engineering School of Clothing (college) of St. Petersburg State University Victoria Zorina, with the model "Fizzy thing", Irina Fedorova with the model "Self-criticism" and Ulyana Zarubina with the model "Train of the party".
In the "Author's Collection" nomination, Valeria Arkhipova and Victoria Reshetnikova won with the Trashcan collection (Engineering School of Clothing Ƶ), the second place was awarded to Yana Stolyarova and Alina Antipenko (Academy of Beauty Industry "LOCK") with the collection "Oil Trail", the third place went to Vasilisa Begimova (Engineering School of Clothing Ƶ) with the Renaissance collection.
Special diplomas with a special mark of the jury members in the nomination were received by students of the Engineering School of Clothing (college) of Ƶ Liana Sunsheva with the collection "ARGENTUM" and Julia Solovyova with the collection "Dance of Life", students of the Academy of Beauty Industry "LOCK" Elizaveta Zemlyanskaya, Polina Makarova and Victoria Plenkova, who presented the collection "Explosion" at the competition.
"Designers talk to the audience using non-traditional materials about what they are interested in, what excites them. Among the topics they raise are the problem of consumer society, the problem of ecology, and acute social problems such as domestic violence. They are inspired by cinema, fairy tales and mythology. The models and collections presented at the competition are the result of the creative search and experiments of each participant, this is a definite step up the ladder of professional development," commented Victoria Yalikova, Deputy Director for Educational Work at the Engineering School of Clothing (College) of Ƶ.
