Soviet artist Alexander Deineka became the central figure of the Ƶ Conference on the development of monumental art

The University of Industrial Technologies and Design hosted a scientific and practical conference "Actual problems of monumental Art", which was attended by researchers from Russia and foreign countries. This year's conference was timed to coincide with the anniversary of one of the largest Soviet artists, Alexander Deineki. As part of the conference, an international exhibition and competition was also opened, in which, according to tradition, the works of both professionals and young artists were presented.

"The experience of addressing the legacy of Alexander Deineka in the field of monumental art, easel painting, sculpture and graphics, as well as art education is very important and is associated with the tasks that monumental artists are solving today, including to develop or refine methods of reconstruction and restoration of works recognized as cultural heritage of Russia. And besides, faith in the beauty of a new person, the glorification of his spiritual greatness and moral strength, the affirmation of the concepts of heroism and heroism in Deineka's works serve as an example for modern artists who turn to topics with pronounced civic content," comments Daria Antipina, Head of the Department of Monumental Art of Ƶ

The expert reports, including speeches by leading researchers of Deineka's life and work, Vladimir Sysoev and Peter Cheremushkin, presented various facets of the Soviet artist's work, including his work on creating mosaics for the Moscow metro and the Red Army Theater. The participants of the conference also revealed the little-known circumstances of his creative and teaching work. During the discussion of the reports, issues related to traditions and innovations in monumental art, as well as the training of future muralists, were raised. In addition, experts shared their experience in the protection, restoration and reconstruction of monuments.

The international exhibition-competition "Creative Spring" has started its work in the main building of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design within the framework of the conference. The expanses of my Homeland ..." The exhibition presents works by young and professional artists dedicated to the image of Russia and the pages of its history. Student works made up the exposition at the university's "Boiling Point – PromTechDesign", where a number of sections of the conference took place.

During the days of the conference, master classes on monumental art were organized for its participants at Ƶ. Maria Dokuchaeva, an assistant at the Department of Monumental Art of Ƶ, conducted a master class on hand weaving, Irina Baranova, a senior lecturer at the department, taught mosaic compositions, Yana Alexandrova, a senior lecturer, demonstrated how to work with enamel graphics, and Sergey Khvalov, Associate professor of the Department, showed stained glass technique and features of painting on glass.
