14 February

100 students gathered in Innopolis (Republic of Tatarstan), who showed the highest results of mastering digital competencies in the programs of the Digital Departments project based on the results of an independent assessment. An Industrial Day was organized for them, where students got acquainted with representatives of leading IT companies in Russia: MTS Lab, VK, Yandex Go, Tatneft, Greenatom, United Aircraft Corporation.

The digital Department of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design in Innopolis was presented by Nikolai Podlesny, a student of the Institute of Business Communications of Ƶ, who learned first-hand about the need of industry giants for young personnel and was able to show himself and his abilities to HR specialists of companies and, possibly, will receive an invitation to an internship.

Innopolis University has prepared a program of events for comfortable and productive communication between students and representatives of companies. Among them are networking, master classes, a panel session, a round table, as well as an HR lounge where employers could comfortably communicate with a student who was interested in one—on-one. Nikolai did not need to bring his resume with him — it was posted on the IT Generation platform of Innopolis University. The results of the assessment completed by the students are automatically integrated into this platform.

Nikolai Podlesny was trained in the program "Algorithmization and programming in Python". As part of his training, he developed a program for recognizing text in pictures using the tools of the programming language being studied. Nikolai is studying in the direction of "Management" and had no knowledge in the field of programming before entering the Digital Department.

Especially to solve the problems of the department, Nikolai wrote a program analogous to the well—known ABBYY FineReader — a program for scanning documents and text recognition. The peculiarity of the development is that it is free and available to all users, and it is also possible to edit the program according to the university's requests. It can be used to digitize manuals, diplomas, scientific papers, as well as posters, banners and other graphic materials into editable text.
