Students of the Institute of Economics and Social Technologies on an excursion to the Mariinsky Palace
04 December

Students of the Department of Economics and Finance of the Institute of Economics and Social Technologies — winners of Olympiads, scientific competitions, All-Russian and international scientific and practical conferences — under the guidance of Associate Professor Pavel Alekseevich Shikov visited the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky Palace.

The students were told about the history and architectural advantages of the Mariinsky Palace, the development of parliamentarism in Russia, the structure, main functions and activities of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg. The students visited the Red, White, Pompeii and Round Halls, as well as the Winter Garden, where exotic plants and a fountain were located in the XIX century under Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna, and today parliamentary discussions are taking place and laws are being passed.

We share the students' impressions:

"I had a very pleasant experience after visiting the Mariinsky Palace. I would like to thank the organizers, in particular the guide, for interesting historical facts about the palace, it was fascinating! I especially remember the luxurious staircase-ramp, which was so pleasant to slip down.
It is a pity that so little time was allocated for the tour, I would like to enjoy the painted walls, ceilings and architecture of this magnificent palace for a longer time," said Aisylu Hafizova.

"The halls were luxurious: marble columns, a fireplace with a beautiful and unusual ornament. Big gold chandeliers have taken a special place in my heart! And the paintings painted by Italian artists give the palace a special aesthetic. The guide tried to show and tell as much as possible — what the palace went through, what happened here during the war years and what consequences remained after the war. We were shown where meetings of high-ranking officials are held, as well as where the assembly of deputies is taking place. In addition, I was surprised that there is a small church in the palace.
Another unusual element of the Mariinsky Palace for me was the staircase without steps. It was scary to go down, but there was some fun in it," said Nigar Alyeva.
