Yelizaveta Maryan, a student of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (Ƶ), presented her university at the Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi. Here she was searching for a suitable trajectory for the development of her socio-humanitarian project.

Elizaveta and her team developed a system of professional orientation of schoolchildren based on psychodiagnostic methods. Among graduates of higher education institutions one can often meet people who feel that they have not realized professionally, burned out and wasted years of study. This often leads to a person feeling professionally unrealized, burned out, and wasted years of their life on learning. Thus, the author of the system conducted a survey among students of St. Petersburg universities and found that 51% of respondents found reasons why they did not like/did not like the specialty they were getting, and frustration, apathy or depression due to dissatisfaction with the profession was experienced by 66%.

"We have created a career guidance system for schoolchildren 15-18 years old based on psychodiagnostic methods "UniSoul". The system with the help of the test helps to determine the aptitudes and determine the most suitable university for schoolchildren. A personal map of interests, advantages and disadvantages is drawn up for each test taker, based on which it is possible to choose a suitable specialty", - said Elizaveta. The test is divided into several blocks, the developers note that the methods used were selected by an expert psychodiagnostician, a practicing HR-specialist with more than 20 years of experience in the field of recruitment and personnel assessment for commercial enterprises. The project uses the Keirsey methodology and the Interest Map.

Elizabeth's team has launched testing in several schools in the Northern Capital. They plan to test at least 500 schoolchildren by the end of the year. And in the future they plan to organize annual career guidance events and replicate the experience in other regions and countries.

"Thanks to the Congress, I was able to look at the social significance of the project more globally, from the side of developing the country's human capital. I realized that it is important to emphasize and promote applied science.

The idea to create the project came already during my studies at Ƶ. When I was thinking about where to go, it was difficult to make a choice. I realized that if I wanted, I could be successful anywhere. But during my last two years of high school, I lost interest in learning. Therefore, it was important for me that these factors coincided when choosing a specialty: I should like the profession; I could reveal my talents; my psychological features should be ideally suited for the profession; I could bring real benefit to other people. Basically, I was looking for the profession I was born for.

And I found it. And I got, and still get pleasure from the whole process of education. I was very sad to see friends and acquaintances who are not engaged in something that makes their eyes burn. I realized that they were in the wrong business. With all that said, I truly believe that higher education is a wonderful thing. But only when you realize why you are getting it. Higher education, in my opinion, generally helps to structure your thinking. And when the specialty suits you, you are fully immersed in the process.

That's why I want the project to help people find themselves and their business. After all, our work is what we do most of our lives. And we want it to be a pleasure," says Elizaveta.
