Students of the Institute of Business Communication of the University of Industrial Technologies and Design became winners of the International Festival of social advertising and communications LIME XIII. The girls presented the project “Vyborg – a city of green landscape” in the category “Branding of territories”, in which they took second place. The new brand concept of Vyborg, developed by the students of St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, includes the construction of a special “ecological object” made from natural materials in the central park of the city, which will serve as a place for recreation and eco-education for local residents and tourists, as well as upgrading of urban infrastructure through the use of innovations in the field of environmental protection.
Students Marina Borisova and Dominika Getmanskaya worked under the guidance of Polina Parshukova, senior lecturer at the Department of Advertising and Public Relations. To the existing components of the brand of the city, Swedish-Finnish roots and sights of the Middle Ages, the girls added another aspect – ecological. It is expressed in the construction of the object for reaction and eco-education of residents and guests of the city.
Creation of the object involves the use of natural materials – arbolite, biocreate, shell rock, durisol, carbon fiber. The park is located in the central park of Vyborg – Lenin Park. The object itself is a mini-scheme of the city, consisting of several green islands surrounded by water. As a landscape solution – planting of vegetation, common in the north of the Leningrad region.
Marina Borisova and Dominika Getmanskaya also designed a new symbol of Vyborg. It consists of three elements: Vyborg Castle, the letter “W” and a green circle with leaves. The last element represents the environmental protection of the city, which the new concept is supposed to provide. In addition to the object itself, the concept “Vyborg as a city of green landscape” includes changes in the city infrastructure, in particular the installation of smart benches, swings on solar panels, which they use at night for their own illumination, turning into art objects. Marketing activities within the new ecological brand concept of Vyborg included: creation of souvenirs with new symbols of the city, cooperation with large grocery store chains to replace plastic bags with ecological ones with the new symbol of Vyborg, organization of a plan of ecological educational events in the territory of the new object in Lenin Park.
