Ekaterina Konopleva, a student of the Engineering School of Clothing of the SUITD, took the prize in the district stage of the open competition of student projects "Russia, aspiring to the future" in the nomination "Best visual work (photo, poster)". She developed a series of posters in honor of the 350th anniversary of Peter I and called it "Build a city!". As part of his concept, the author depicted the objects of the cultural heritage of the Russian emperor in the form of the popular game "Tetris".
"One of the greatest achievements of Peter the Great in strengthening the Russian government was the foundation and construction of St. Petersburg, which is today one of the largest industrial, commercial and cultural centers of Russia and the world. Each poster is dedicated to a separate building from the time of Peter the Great and is presented in the form of a game "Tetris", — said Ekaterina Konopleva.
The student performed her work under the guidance of Daniela Kirgan, a teacher at the SUITD School of Clothing Engineering. In the center of the composition is a playing field with geometric figures of the famous puzzle located in it. They depict fragments of the cultural heritage of the Russian emperor, designated on the avatar on the right as the main character. The visualization method in a playful way embodies the construction of the city by Peter I. Each poster contains the name of a separate architectural building of the Peter the Great era and the years of the beginning and end of its construction. To link the posters into a single series, a question mark marked "next" was used to go to the image with the next cultural monument.
A solemn ceremony honoring the prize-winners and winners of the competition was held in the Petrovsky Hall of St. Petersburg State University, the award was presented to Ekaterina Konopleva by the chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, Rector of the Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design Alexey Demidov. After the presentation, an excursion to the Museum-Archive of D. I. Mendeleev took place.
