Docent of SUITD Olga Moskalyuk became the hero of the photo exhibition "Science in Faces" in Moscow
09 February

Today, on February 08, 2023, on the Day of Russian Science, the exhibition "Science in Faces", organized by the Russian Society "Knowledge", opened in the Moscow GUM. The unique exhibition presents photo portraits of 22 young scientists of Russia, one of whom was Olga Moskalyuk, docent and head of the strategic project of the university "Fashion Tech Technology Transfer Center" at SUITD. The author of the works was the famous portrait photographer Alexey Nikishin. Olga was chosen as the hero of the photo project as a participant of the meeting with the President of Russia at the Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi.

Olga Moskalyuk, as part of the scientific group of SUITD and IMC RAS, was engaged in the development of electrically conductive textiles, which received the support of the Northwestern Nanocenter, on the basis of which the startup Arctic Tex was created. Today Olga is the head of a startup that produces electrically conductive fabric with carbon nanotubes, which, unlike analogues, remains as flexible as ordinary fabric. The use of flexible heating modules of a new generation allows you to create functional clothing that provides not only heating to a safe temperature for a person, but also preserves the comfort and lightness of the product. Such warming fabrics can be used in the production of clothing and PPE for Arctic and Antarctic expeditions and the Far North.

"The path from a young scientist to a leader, as well as the path from a scientific idea to practical implementation, can be successfully completed only with awareness of the beauty of the creative process of scientific and educational activities. The support of teachers is also very important on this path. I was lucky enough to meet Ekaterina Sergeevna Tsobkallo (Head of the Department of Engineering Materials Science and Metrology of SUITD) and Vladimir Evgenievich Yudin (Head of the Laboratory of the Institute of High Molecular Compounds of the Russian Academy of Sciences), who opened the world of science for me. I am happy that today I can continue their work: to form a new generation of young scientists, to implement a strategic project – the transfer of scientific technologies to SUITD, to develop my own laboratory on the basis of the IKBFU," Olga Moskalyuk said.

The purpose of the exhibition "Science in Faces" is to emphasize the special role of scientists in Russia and their importance in shaping the future of the country. The creators of the exhibition show that being a part of science is fashionable, so the photos of the heroes look like magazine covers. In addition to portraits, the exhibition is complemented by frames in which scientists are in the process of research.

After the opening ceremony, a brunch was held with honored guests, scientists-heroes of the exhibition and laureates of the Russian President's Prize in science and innovation. In an informal setting, the participants of the meeting talked about their research and promising domestic developments, discussed the results of the past year, as well as key challenges for the next ten years.

The exhibition "Science in Faces" will be open until February 28, 2023.
