Light Industry Cluster of SUITD opened its doors for the first students of “Professionalitet”

Today at 11:30 am at the College of Technology, Modeling and Management of the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design fanfare sounded in honor of the first students in Russia, who enrolled in the specialty of «Professionalitet».

The cluster of footwear and leather goods industry of St. Petersburg on the basis of SUITD opened its doors for them.

The main feature of the federal project «Professionalitet» is synchronization of education offers and labor market needs. Production representatives are actively involved in the preparation process of young specialists, which allows you to produce ready-made cadre «turnkey» and update the content of educational programs to meet the needs of enterprises with a reduction in the duration of training.

The main employers of the project, who are actively participate in the implementation of educational programs and creating the cluster itself, are the leading enterprises of the industry: JSC «Production and Technological Company „Moderam“», LLC «Factory of non-standard shoes „Mercury“», LLC «Leather goods factory „Alliance“, LLC „Ortho-Technologies“ and LLC „Rassvet“»

At the opening of the cluster, the chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, the rector of the SUITD addressed the students and their parents

«Our cluster is the only preparation center for the shoe industry in the country, that’s why we aim to make St. Petersburg the dominant in the development of cadre resources for the shoe and leather goods industries throughout Russia. We also rely on the historical component, because the Leningrad school of shoemakers has always been a smithy of cadres for the entire industry», — Alexey Demidov, the chairman of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region Universities Rectors’ Council, rector of Saint-Petersburg University of Industrial Technologies and Design.

Throughout the summer period, the academic building at Tsvetochnaya Street 8 underwent major repairs of the premises of three floors, halls, corridors, stairs, entrance group and facade of the building. At the same time, purchases of modern equipment, computers, and software were carried out.

The total financing of the cluster amounted to 133 million rubles, of which the federal budget funds — 100 million rubles, extra-budgetary funds of the university — 20 million rubles, co-financing of the project by supporting enterprises of the real sector of the economy — 13 million rubles.

On the 1st floor of the cluster «PromTechDesign — College of Technology, Modeling and Management» there is an educational and laboratory sector, on the 2nd floor — audiences for creative preparation of future light industry specialists, on the 3rd floor there is a training and production workshop. Laboratories of biomechanics of foot movement, laboratories of additive and information technologies for 3D scanning, 3D printing and creation of 3D models, a laboratory of materials technology, a laboratory for designing shoes and bags, as well as an educational and production sector with a cutting site, a sewing workshop and an assembly workshop are being prepared for launch.

On behalf of the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov our students and teachers were congratulated by Andrey Maksimov, Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education.

Together with the ambassadors of the federal project, about 300 students, who enrolled in the College of Technology, Modeling and Management of SUITD, took part in a flash mob, which started on September 1 in 28 regions of the country. Guys danced to the anthem of «Professionalitet» on the Palace Square and at the college. At the homeroom they parsed career maps and outlined the path of development in the profession with their teachers, and then they passed an interactive quest — tour, where they learned about the infrastructure of research laboratories and production workshops.

Technologists of employer companies, which entered into the partner network of the light industry cluster together with SUITD, demonstrated the first tests of new equipment. They introduced first-year students to the work of the sewing section, cutting complexes, 3D printers in the laboratory of additive technologies and other equipment of the center.

Recall that according to the results of the competition of the Ministry of Education of Russia on the realization of the federal project «Professionalitet» the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design became one of the first 70 clusters, on the basis of which modern educational and production centers are being created in the most popular industries for our country.
