Creative youth from all over Russia have once again gathered at the Engineering School of Clothes (college) of SUITD to show their talents and professional skills at the Russian competition of young fashion designers 芦Breath of Spring禄. Today the University College podium hosted a Gala-demonstration of the best collections of the year and the awarding ceremony of the winners. There were 60 participants from Yaroslavl, Murmansk, Vologda, Sevastopol and Saint-Petersburg.

This year is the 30th anniversary of the competition, but it is being held for the 29th time due to the difficult epidemiological situation in 2020, when it was decided not to hold the event. The theme of the anniversary year, 芦The Creativity Virus禄, is addressed to the rethinking of the recent realities, when during lockdown we rediscovered the comfort of homemade clothing and tried to spend the time at home as interesting as possible, showing our creativity on social media. Today, when some of the restrictions imposed during the pandemic are still in place, we are looking for ways to express ourselves, including fashion. The contest organizers urged participants to address fashion not as an object of consumption, but as creativity in the broadest sense of the word.

On the 芦Breath of Spring 鈥� 2022禄 runaway the designer presented single models in the 芦Creativity禄 and 芦Comfort禄 nominations and collections in Pret-a-porter in the 芦#Homefashion禄 and 芦Energy禄 nominations, combining daring creative solutions with ergonomics and comfort.

On the Gala-demonstration of the competition spoke the chairman of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region Universities Rectors Council and Rector of SUITD Alexey Demidov:

The Grand Prix of the competition and the main prize of 250 000 rubles as well as the prize of audience鈥檚 sympathy won the student of SUITD鈥檚 Engineering School of Clothes Zlatoslava Prodan for the collection 芦Illusions of a Tropical Dream禄.

The winner in the 芦Single model 鈥濩omfort鈥� nomination became Varvara Pestryakova (College of Saint-Petersburg Fashion, Saint-Petersburg禄), the 芦Single model 芦Creativity禄 nomination became Anastasia Efimova Engineering School of Clothes SUITD, the 芦Pret-a-porter collection 芦#Homefashion禄 nomination the first place was taken by Diana Lukina and Marina Karandeeva (Vologda college of Technology and Design, Vologda), the 芦Pret-a-porter collection 芦Energy禄 nomination was Elmira Ospakulova (Engineering School of Clothes SUITD). The winners received 50 000 rubles for further development.

The finalists of the 芦Breath of Spring 鈥� 2022禄 competition also won special prizes and were rewarded with gifts from the partners of the competition: certificates for an internship at the Kogel fashion house and design studio 芦Ambition禄, a personal online internship from co-chair of the jury Danilo Luigi Mercaldo, certificates to work in the clothing co-working 芦TechDesign禄, certificate for a personal exhibition at 芦Boiling Point 鈥� PromTechDesign禄, a certificate to participate in the forum 芦GO! Deep Education禄, sets of fabrics. sewing equipment, one of the designers even got an author鈥檚 painting from the co-chair of the jury Peter Gamayunov.

The works of the competitors were evaluated by a team of judges, including: clothing designer, marketing director of the brand鈥檚 fur factory Alessandro Ashton; Danilo Luigi Mercaldo; director of the Institute of Costume Design of SUITD Peter Gamayunov; regional development director of the Marangoni Institute 芦Istituto Marangoni Milano禄 Domiano Antonazzo; co-founder and executive officer of the National Fashion Week 芦Kazakhstan Fashion Week禄 Botagoz Aldongarova; founder and designer of the Kogel Fashion House Asya Kogel; head of Design and Technology Department, professor Evgeny Surzhenko, adviser of the Rector on Secondary Vocational Education Emilia Zhukova, director of 芦Ambition禄 design studio Elena Petrovskaya, member of Russian Designers Union, professor of Costume Design Department Elena Petrova.
