“India-Russia. Unity in diversity”. The International Forum was held in Ƶ

The Ƶ hosted an international scientific and Practical Forum dedicated to the anniversary of the beginning of the centuries-old friendship between Russia and India. The memorable date is associated with the 550th anniversary of the travel notes of merchant Afanasy Nikitin, in which he described his journey to India. The exhibition and conference organized within the framework of the forum are designed to reveal the diversity of forms of cultural dialogue between Russia and India in terms of its formation and future prospects.

“Walking across Three Seas” is an outstanding historical and literary monument created by Afanasy Nikitin, who, according to the Indian writer Khoja Ahmad Abbas, opened the road of friendship between Russia and India and the peoples of these countries. Thanks to the merchant Nikitin's essay, the Russian man learned a lot about India. The author described its political structure, peculiarities of trade and agriculture, customs and traditions of this country.

The exposition of the exhibition-competition included the works of students receiving higher education in the field of fine arts, teachers and professional artists. The thematic range of the presented works made in various techniques (painting, watercolor, gouache, drawing, mosaic, enamel, etc.) is very wide. These are stories related to the journey of Afanasy Nikitin, with the history and spiritual life of India, with the monuments of its architecture and fine art, with its diverse nature.

The conference, which was also held within the framework of the forum, was attended by specialists from Russia and India. At the plenary session and during the work of the two sections, they discussed the diversity of currently existing forms of interaction between cultures, as well as the problems of pedagogy in a modern university. Special attention was paid to the experience of the appeal of Russian artists and thinkers to India, as well as the work of masters of its fine arts and literature, who made a great contribution to the development and strengthening of cultural interaction between the two countries.
