On February 8 we celebrate the Day of Russian Science
08 February

Congratulations to all our scientists, professors, postgraduate students, students, representatives of the scientific community on the professional holiday - the Day of Russian Science!

Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region, Rector of Ƶ Alexey Demidov:

“The work of Russian scientists today is aimed at the modernization of industries, the introduction of innovative solutions in production, agriculture, import substitution and is entirely intended to give humanity the opportunity to replenish knowledge about the world around us, putting forward new hypotheses and solving problems of fundamental applied science.

Every discovery and invention of scientists is another open door on the way to a breakthrough, bringing together scientific ideas, historical experience, natural science and modern man's concepts of perfect systems and technologies.

Scientific activity at the University of Industrial Technologies and Design remains the main value guideline, as it was at its foundation, more than 90 years ago, and during the Great Patriotic War, when strategic tasks of wartime were solved in the scientific laboratories located within our walls.

Today our specialists offer industry solutions in the field of nanotechnology and “smart” textile in the context of a variety of materials processing to achieve unique properties: self-cleaning, incombustibility, coloristic, optical, photocatalytic, water- and dirt-repellent, antibacterial, UV-resistant, cold-resistant effects. Our scientists have developed a technology for creating gas diffusion substrates for hydrogen fuel cells, a technology for processing plastic waste into fuel, creating virtual digital samples of simulated products, which led to the absence of the need to produce a pilot batch of samples, heating glasses and thermal insulation materials of a new generation for Arctic territories, antitumor filaments and antimicrobial suture materials, a technology for staining finished plastic products, an installation that allows scientists to study the composition of the Universe, and also developed a technology for, allowing to reconstruct historical artifacts and preserve cultural heritage objects in the digital world. Our young engineers have developed an installation capable of reducing the cost of hydrogen by 6 times, the technology is based on the idea of processing carbon dioxide from production into methane and water, on “clean” waste disposal and turning it into “green” hydrogen. And this is not a complete list of our scientific achievements over the past year.

Today, Russian scientists are working in the conditions of a pandemic reality, when every day the scientific community is in search of optimal solutions to ensure the safety of people and raise the Russian economy, realizing full responsibility for the outcome of ongoing research and the importance of implemented developments.

Dear colleagues and friends! I wish you new discoveries, breakthroughs, inspiration and inexhaustible health! May your enthusiasm serve for the good of our country.”
