03 July

Student of Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design Milana Tarasova developed a model of vaccination campaign taking into account the contradictory attitude of the population to vaccination and the actions of anti-vaccination propaganda. She proposed effective methods of communication with the population on safety and vaccination of children's infectious diseases. Milana Tarasova presented her development in a thesis commissioned by the Saint-Petersburg Health Committee.

This work became an insightful material for Medical information and analytical center because student managed to identify new data on the actions of the anti-vaccination movement. For example, despite the fact that the administration of social networks monitors potential threats and blocks some hashtags, supporters of the anti-vaccination movement bypass the blocking by modifying them or using code words that only they understand. Milana Tarasova also found that one of the important problems in Russia is the accession of some medical workers to the anti-vaccination movement, while in most cases such specialists are primary care workers who disseminate potentially dangerous information and violate professional ethics.

“At the moment the most difficult mission is to oppose the information flow, which in large volume broadcasts misconceptions and unconfirmed data about vaccination through social networks, the Internet and the media,” explains the author, a student of the Institute of Media Technologies of the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies of Ƶ Milana Tarasova. To form a response, the researcher identified the most effective points of contact with the public and suggested options for how to focus the efforts of official sources and specialists of the industries involved on them.

Development of Milana Tarasova who study Master’s Degree program called Advertising and public relations, was highly appreciated by the Health Committee of Saint-Petersburg, she managed to formulate methods and measures that will help in the further development of the healthcare system in the field of vaccination of infectious diseases.
