Annually on June 14 the Worldwide Donor Day celebrates in various countries of the world. On this day, we thank people who voluntarily and gratuitously donate their blood necessary for saving human lives, and raise awareness of the need for regular blood donation to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need.
Transfusion of blood and blood products can save millions of human lives every year. It helps to prolong the life of patients who suffer from conditions which is life-threating and to improve the quality of life. Transfusion of blood and blood products is necessary during complex medical and surgical procedures. It also plays a vital role in the area of maternal and child health and during the emergency response to man-made disasters and natural disasters.
Since the beginning of the war the School of nurses was organized in our institute. Since June 14, 1941, 200 female students have started classes.

Part of the institute's premises was transferred to the frontline evacuation hospital, where our students worked as nurses and became donors for wounded soldiers.

Since then every year the staff and students of our university take part in blood donation voluntarily and gratuitously. In 2021, 104 volunteers have already taken part in the donation.
