From 01 to 06 of June 2021 the first Art School of the Tavrida Forum “We are together” took place in Sudak city. The school brought together young artists and creators with disabilities. Within the framework of the Art School, a grant competition for youth initiatives from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs was held. Marina Rudakova, a third-year student of the Institute of Graphic Design of Ƶ, won a grant for the implementation of the Open World Laboratory project in the amount of 428 thousand rubles.
The laboratory “Open world” is an inclusive project made for social adaptation and self-realization of students with disabilities. Within the framework of the project students will create a space for barrier-free communication with students with hearing impairment and help students with disabilities who plans to take part in university admission. It will ensure the availability of education and guarantee the socialization of people with disabilities. Students with hearing impairment will be invited for participation in project as well. At the initial stage, children who do not have health restrictions will take classes with a psychologist to understand the characteristics of people with disabilities, to find an approach to them. For hearing impaired children, a number of classes with a psychologist will also be held, which will allow them to set up trusting communication. As part of the first stage of the work, master classes will be held with a sign language teacher, where students are taught basic words and phrases to make communication comfortable. Then creative rehearsals will begin to prepare for the shooting of a video that combines a gestural-vocal performance of a song and dance accompaniment. Students will jointly create a video in support of people with disabilities and aimed at providing them with equal opportunities with other students.
The unique of this project is involving students with special needs in the independent creation of a product, not just a consumption of services. The result of the work is the creation of inclusive laboratory aimed at joint creativity as well as adaptation of students and applicants with disabilities for studying at the university.
“It is thanks to help of employees of Ƶ that I was able to reach this victory. I would especially like to thank Luydmila Egorovna Vinogradova and Varvara Pakina for supporting my idea and for helping me to implement it. Also I would like to thank the staff of Students Creativity and Leisure Center, staff of Student Union and teachers who always met me halfway and helped to assimilate knowledge. It was thanks to their care and attention that I was able to achieve the result. In the future, I would like to help my native university improve the level of sign language communication, as students with hearing impairment have difficulty learning and communicating with other children. Through the project, I will strive to help teachers and students remove barriers in communication and create favorable conditions for everyone” said Marina Rudakova.
It is worth noting that last year, a student of Ƶ Varvara Pakina received a grant in the amount of 900.000 rubles for the implementation of the project Festival of Creativity of first-year students of universities in Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad region “Mom, I'm on stage!” at the Forum “Above the Roof”. In 2019, Alexey Moiseev received a grant in the amount of 800.000 rubles from Rosmolodezh for Tavrida Art for the project “Ball in the best traditions”. The final event within the framework of the project is the interuniversity student ball “Traditions to Dance!” will be held on June 11 at the University of Industrial Technologies and Design. Also in 2019, Daria Pashkova, a student of the Institute of Costume Design in Ƶ, won a grant for the implementation of her project and received support in the amount of 1 million rubles.
