Yesterday, at the panel discussion “New educational products: responding to the challenges of a new reality” of the Moscow International Salon of Education, a Master's degree program in Fashion Tech from the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design was presented. The program is called “Digital technologies in fashion industry” and is implemented on the basis of the Department of information systems and computer design of Ƶ. Today, the educational project of the St. Petersburg University is the first in Russia within the framework of training at the intersection of technology and fashion.
The event was dedicated to new educational products in higher education, flexible training models, individual learning paths, educational products for the new FashionNet and FoodNet markets. Polina Egarmin, curator of the Fashion Tech Master's degree program at Ƶ, Ekaterina Lyubimova, vice-rector for Education at the University 20.35, Alexander Volkov, vice-rector for Education at NUST MISIS, Guzel Sharipzyanova, vice-rector for Academic Affairs at the Moscow Polytechnic University, told about changes within universities necessary for the implementation of new learning models.
The curator of the Master's degree program Fashion Tech Ƶ Polina Egarmin:
- Fashion Tech is a relatively new direction for the whole world, but already today digitalization is greatly transforming the fashion industry. Science and technology are developing at such a pace that new specialists are needed for a competitive economy that we want to build. Enterprises need human resources, and the fashion industry needs new professionals, solutions and startups working at the intersection of fashion and innovation. The main challenge facing the educational systems of any country is global digitalization. The new demands of society, the state, and the labor market entail a change in the content and philosophy of education. Ƶ also found itself face to face with the requirements dictated by the changing world, and launched a unique program aimed at teaching professions of the future at the junction of several disciplines: fashion and technology.
It is worth noting that on the eve of the Moscow International Salon of Education, the St. Petersburg University announced the joining of the Russian branch of the AliExpress global virtual trading platform to the partner training base for Fashion Tech. A strong partner network of the SPbGUPTD educational program, which includes leading digital product development companies and creative agencies, will help students launch their own project while still studying. In this sense, the "Startup as a Diploma" program has been introduced into the preparation. The graduates' works will be evaluated by experts of the new WearNet technology market within the framework of the National Technology Initiative. The best projects will be recommended to the Innovation Promotion Fund for development grants.
