On September 22, 2021 the Palazzo Visconti in Milan will host the festival-collaboration of Fashion and Arts “WATA Emerging Talents”. For the first time ever the official program one of the most influential platforms in Italy, Emerging Talents Milan, will include “Russian fashion day” which designed to support talented designers whose art is ideologically aimed at preserving the traditions and popularizing the culture and art of our country. The couture collections of Russian designers will be presented both to representatives of the world press accredited at the Milan Fashion Week, and to the fashion community recognized all over the world. The organizers were the information and educational project World Art Tutor Agency (WADA), the Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (Ƶ) and the independent international agency Emerging Talent Milan.

One of the events of the festival will be a presentation of the first Master’s degree in Russia in the field of Fashion Tech which starts this year on the basis of Saint-Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. According to the ideologist and curator of the project from the SPbGUPTD team, the founder of the Fash.In bureau Polina Zheleznikova, the launch of the program is primarily due to the transformation of the fashion industry through digitalization, the need for personnel capable of introducing technologies to the enterprises of the fashion industry, while the industry itself needs new specialists, solutions and startups in the world of fashion and innovation.

Alexey Demidov, rector of Ƶ, Chairman of the Council of rectors of Universities of Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, commented on the start of the program: “The fact that we are presenting the Fashion Tech Master's degree in Milan, first of all speaks about the relevance of our decisions towards expanding the digital ecosystem of the fashion industry. What we are offering today to build up the Russian human resources potential is arouse interest abroad. The University of Industrial Technologies and Design occupies a niche for the development of digital fashion and digital design in the region today, in general, these are strategic steps to improve the creative industry in the country as a whole, and they need to be done by filling with meaning, demonstrating to the world a clear, filled with images and warmth, Russian culture. Olga Malyarova, a graduate of Ƶ, one of the best young designers in the world, is also among the contenders to represent Russia in the final of the “WATA Emerging Talents”. Her collections are certainly filled with this meaning. This is the culture, the authenticity, with which we should introduce the world.”

As part of the festival, Ƶ launched an information and educational platform Wata-Fest.com designed to demonstrate the relevance of the interrelationships of cultural traditions, historical experience and creativity to a wide audience. Now there is a popular online voting on the platform. Its results, as well as the opinion of Russian figures of education and culture, including the legendary gallery owner Marina Gisich, director of the Moscow Design Museum Alexandra Sankova, artists Andrey Blokhin and Georgy Kuznetsov (art group Recycle Group, known for their collaboration with the French House DIOR) will determine six winners. Their names will be announced on September 15, and a week later - on September 22, 2021 - they will represent Russia at the grand final of the Palazzo Visconti in Milan.
